Marcus Kelley Chapman

STAUNTON – Marcus Kelley Chapman, 64, passed away Friday (June 23, 2023) in Augusta Health.

Born October 1, 1958, Kelley was the son of the late Marcus Edward and Sallie Anne (Skidmore) Chapman. He was a 1977 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School. He was employed in the maintenance department of Mary Baldwin University for a number of years, and more recently in food prep at Wright’s Dairy-Rite. Kelley’s heart was in his music - he was a remarkably skilled jazz musician and was a member of several bands over the years, playing at wineries and other venues. Kelley also enjoyed fishing, all dogs and had a great, dry sense of humor.

He is survived by two sisters, Kathy Polensky of Boise, Id. and Laura Cress and her husband Brett of Greenville; three nephews and one niece.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Schutterle Community Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Bobby Campbell.
