Mamie Evelyn Curran
Mamie Evelyn Curran, 93, made her trip to heaven Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at The Retreat at Fishersville.
Mamie was born on September 10, 1929 in Richmond to the late Alfred Gulley and Eliza Bernice Duke Curran.
She was a graduate of Saluda High School in 1946 where she was actively involved with the yearbook and student council. In 1948, she received an Executive Secretary Diploma from the College of Hampton Roads.
She started her career at the Life of Virginia, in Richmond and held many office positions throughout her life. She retired as an administrative assistant for the Valley ASAP in Staunton.
After retirement she enjoyed volunteering, traveling, working in her yard, and spending time with family. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Cecchini Maclam and her husband, Keith, and Suzanne Elizabeth Cecchini; her grandsons, Chris McCoy, Nick Georganzis, and Jeremy Maclam; and two great-grandchildren, all of the Staunton area.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Hugh Olson Curran, and the father of her children, Paul F. Cecchini.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 19, 2023 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Staunton with the Reverend Ed Covert officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond (1401 South Randolph Street).
