Madeline Cleon Jackson
Madeline Cleon Jackson, 86, of Grottoes, passed away Tuesday morning, November 2, 2023 at her home.
Miss Jackson was born September 8, 1937 in Washington, D.C, and was the daughter of the late Marian William and Virginia Frances (Brown) Jackson.
Miss Jackson grew up in the Grottoes area and was a 1958 Graduate of Lucy Simms High School in Harrisonburg. After graduation, Miss Jackson moved to Washington D.C for a brief time before returning to the Grottoes area.
She was a life long member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church in Grottoes.
Miss Jackson was employed 8 years at Belle Meade Motel, in Harrisonburg, 29 1/2 years at Bridgewater College in food service and custom management, and 8 summers at the Skyline Drive Loft Mountain Resort where she worked as a cashier. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, knitting, and sightseeing. She also enjoyed baking and gourmet cooking, and attending church activities. She loved God, and was a strong believer in Christian faith.
Surviving is a son, Keith Roderick Jackson of Grottoes; daughter, Shirley Davis of Suffolk, VA; two grandchildren, Vernica Davis and Ricky Davis, also of Suffolk; three great-grandchildren; cousins, John Brown of MD, Larry Brown of Denver, Richard Brown, II of Decatur, GA, Lori and Alex Quince of Decatur, Viola Jones, Alease and Troy Poindexter, all of Grottoes, Howard and Julia Taylor, and Tracey Veney, of Harrisonburg; her church family, and many other friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, Dec. 1st, at the funeral home, with Pastor John Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
