Lynwood Stanly Lam

January 31, 1926 - February 17, 2025

Lynwood Stanly Lam transitioned from his Earthly home to his Heavenly home on February 17, 2025. He was born January 31, 1926 to E. Roger and Myrtle Sandy Lam. He was the oldest of eleven siblings and the oldest grandchild of the Lam and Sandy families.

Lynwood has resided at Bridgewater Retirement community since October 2022, prior to that he resided at Mt. Solon, VA. He attended Pleasant Valley Elementary School and Bridgewater High School. He worked for Smith and Cary John Deere, Harrisonburg, VA, in the late 40's and early 50's and was also a farmer. He was interest in Antique John Deere Tractors and owned a BR tractor, which he drove in the Bridgewater Fireman's Parade. He was a member of Linden Heights Baptist Church Staunton, where he had been a Deacon and a former member of Mt. Olivet UB Church Mt., Solon were he had taught Sunday School and held other positions.

Lynwood married Betty Louise Hall on October 29, 1949, together they had five children. She preceded him, in death in February 3, 1988. On September 28, 1990 he married Ilene Cary Redifer. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1993. On January 2, 1994 he married Dorothy Ralston Armstrong, she preceded him in death on August 26, 2022.

Lynwood was also preceded in death by two Sons, Dale Lynwood Lam and James Hall Lam; grandson Timothy Wayne Lam; granddaughter Kristy Nicole Lam; son-in-law John W. Hisey, Jr., daughter-in-law Hilda Baber Lam; two brothers Ralph Sandy Lam and Glen Roger Lam (infant); two sisters, Hazel Altizer (George) and Marietta Helphrey (Hal) and sister-in-law Betty Jean Lam.

Lynwood is survived by sons Douglas Edward Lam (Joyce) and Robert William Lam, daughter Jane L. Smith (David) and daughter-in-law Grace Cook Lam; grandchildren and step grandchildren Michael Steven Lam (Shaina), Caleb Douglas Lam (Courtney), Devan Hisey Coffinberger (David), Jonathan Coy Hisey, Roger Dale Hisey (Lauren), Jessie Palmieri (Steven), Marcie Christensen(Jered) and Favon Dameron; great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, Austin and Alex Lam, John Coffinberger, Jonathan Jr, Taylor, Evan, Emily and Benjamin Hisey, Leah and Megan Palmieri, Trevor and Hunter Senabaugh and Delilah Dameron; one sister Frances Shenk (Nelson), five brothers Marvin (Mary), Herbert (Lois), Daniel(Linda), Samuel and Dallas(Leanna) Lam. One sister-in-law Edith Lam; and many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephew's.

The family would like to thank all the staff on the Tranquility House, at Bridgewater Home, for Lynwood's care since October 2022.

The family will receive friend's on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet UB Church with Pastors Luke Smith and John Chrisophel officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery.
