Lynn "Butch" Delnora Allen

Lynn D. (Butch) Allen, Sr. passed away at his home on January 4, 2024 surrounded by family.

He was born February 25, 1947 in Rockbridge County to the late Harold Dennis and Vivian Allen.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald D. Allen and Roger Dale Allen, a granddaughter Kimberly Dawn Harris.

Mr. Allen is a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He was actively involved with the Stuarts Draft VFW Post #9339 and was a Past Commander. Mr. Allen retired from Fitzgerald Lumber in 2009 as a log buyer, enjoyed his retirement spending time with friends and hunting, especially for mushrooms. He attended Mt. Paran Baptist Church

Butch is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter, Wanda Bryant (Jay Roach); son, Lynn D. “Bucky” Allen (Judy); daughter, Tammy Lee Johnson (Billy); stepdaughter, Chris Goelz (George); stepson, Ray Goelz, Jr. (Ryan); sisters, Peggy Bryant (Allen), Sue Taylor;  grandchildren, Amanda, Brandy, T.J, Landon, Mathew, Stevin, Kendell, Maya, Alice and Owen.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Sunday January 7, 2024 at McDow Funeral Home.

A Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday January 8, 2024 at McDow Funeral Home officiated by Pastor James Lundy. Burial to follow in the Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery in Vesuvius, Virginia. 

Active pallbearers will be Butch Bentley, Matt Kirschnick, Emmit Blair, Bobby Lawrence, Tim Wilday and Jerry Allen.

Honorary pall bearers will be Ron Coleman, Jerry “Shorty” Phillips, T.J.Bailey, Mathew Evans, Stevin Evans, Brandy Bryant, and Landon Roach, 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Hospice of the Shenandoah c/o Augusta Health Foundation, PO box 1000, Fishersville, Va. 22939 or to Hunts for Healing, 3 Coburn Hill Rd., Laceyville, Pa. 18623, Attn: John Piccotti.
