Lula Belle (Long) Dodrill

Lula Belle (Long) Dodrill, 85, of Bridgewater, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

She was born on May 9, 1940, and was a daughter of Elza B. and Velda (Harris) Long.

Lula Belle was a proud 1958 graduate of Sutton High School in Sutton, WV, where she was part of a close-knit group of friends known as the "Big Six." She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Business and Office Principles from Glenville State College. Lula Belle began her career in education, teaching for three years at Park View High School in South Hill, VA.

Following the birth of her sons, Lula Belle dedicated herself fully to being a mother and homemaker. Once her children were grown, she reentered the workforce in the book department at Kroger.

Lula Belle was a member of Clover Hill Church in Dayton. She previously served in several leadership roles at Keezletown United Methodist Church.

Lula Belle enjoyed time spent with her family. She found joy in camping and was a gifted seamstress who sewed a lot, not only for family, but for neighbors and friends.

Lula Belle was united in marriage on August 20, 1961, to Dale Dodrill, who survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Brad (Randy Morgan) Dodrill, and Scott (Michele) Dodrill; grandchildren, Alissa (Josh) Wanger, and Kendra Dodrill; brother, John (Caron) Long; nieces and other family members.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Paul Long.

A service celebrating Lula Belle's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Clover Hill Church, with Pastor Sarah Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital, or Clover Hill Church Building Fund.
