Lucy E. Thompson
CRAIGSVILLE – Lucy E. “Susie” Thompson, 93, wife of Charles William Thompson (deceased) went to heaven Saturday, June 25, 2022.
She was born in Ferrol, Va. on April 5, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Fridley) Bazzrea.
Susie was a charter member of Joyful Sound Church and spent many years devoted to ministry – singing, teaching and sharing Jesus. She was blessed with many cherished church friends, both living and deceased; among them Barbara, Gloria, Hilda, Jean, Thelma, and Gene.
Susie and William opened their home to care for her disabled brother after the death of their mother. Caring for Richard gave her life a special purpose.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a great-grandson, David, and his father, Steven Overton; brothers Dick Fridley and Lewis and Richard Bazzrea; and a number of half-brothers.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Brenda Thompson; grandson Trevor Thompson and wife Kathryn; granddaughter Kellyn Kincaid and husband David; great-grandsons Conley Overton and Quinn Thompson; sister Shelby Jean Pettry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Brenda and Kellyn whose diligent care allowed Mom to continue living in her home. Also, thank you to a special caregiver, Juanita Sprouse.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at Bear Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in the Miller Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Craigsville officiated by Pastor Mike Herring.
