Llana Hatter

April 9, 1927 - December 28, 2023

Llana Day (Gragg) Hatter, of Staunton, passed away peacefully at The Shenandoah House in Fishersville on December 28, 2023 at the age of 96.

She was born in West Virginia on April 9, 1927, a daughter of the late William Marvin and Hattie Fay Ella (Ray) Gragg. Llana was a mother to two sons, Larry and Michael. Llana was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hatter, son, Larry Hatter, and siblings: Earl Gragg, Violet Heavener, Willie Faye Stanley, Raymond Gragg, and Myrtis Ann Wolfe.

Llana was known as someone who was always on the go and busy. She worked full time as a bookkeeper until retirement and then continued to work part time until she was 80 years old. Llana enjoyed being involved in many activities and was an active member of her church, Fountain of Life Church of God of Prophecy.

Llana is survived by her grandchildren: Larra Koiner (Mark) of Fishersville, Stacey Hatter of Lyndhurst, Mark Hatter (Trease) of Stuarts Draft, Kimberly Chandler (Keith) of Philadelphia, Jason Hatter of Atlanta, and Sunshine “Sunny” Copeland (Brent) of El Paso. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Lindsey Wallace (Eddie) of Stuarts Draft, Cory Hatter of Waynesboro, Mark Hatter of Staunton, Kasie Houff (Jordan) of Stuarts Draft, Kathleen “Katie” Hatter of Stuarts Draft, Ashlie Koiner of Fishersville, Calob Hatter of Waynesboro, Jakob Chandler of Blacksburg, Mae Hatter (Jared Brown) of Anchorage, Jamie Gardner (Nathan) of Stuarts Draft, Katie Chandler of Philadelphia, Matthew Copeland of El Paso, Braden Copeland of El Paso, Autumn Hatter, Cayden Hatter, and Camden Hatter; 15 great-great grandchildren. Llana is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Pastor Darren Massey officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4pm until 6pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Darren Massey and his wife, Sandy along with all of the church members who continued to support Llana in her last years. Also, a special thank you to Hospice of the Shenandoah and Shenandoah House for supporting her and the family in her final days.
