Linda Patrick Nicholas

October 16, 1943 - January 20, 2024

Lyndhurst, Virginia lost a beloved local artist, Linda Patrick Nicholas, who peacefully entered her eternal home at the age of 80 on Saturday, January 20, 2024. 
     Linda was born on October 16, 1943, and she spent her entire life contributing to the beauty of her community through her passion for watercolor paintings, preserving elements of Blue Ridge life as it used to be.
     Linda was not only an accomplished artist, but also a generous soul, who dedicated much of her work to charitable causes. Her artistic contributions both adorned the walls of homes, and also helped make a positive impact on her community.
     Linda's artistic talents were complemented by her love for nature and outdoor activities. She had a special fondness for hiking and ginseng hunting, finding solace and inspiration in the natural beauty that surrounded her. One of her favorite pastimes was picnicking on the parkway, where she could appreciate the scenic views that inspired her artwork.
     Born and raised in Nelson County, Linda was the daughter of the late John and Ollie Marie Hughes. 
     She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Dean Nicholas; daughter, Sherri Heishman of Fishersville; stepson, Judson R. Nicholas and his wife, Sara of Henrico; sisters, Diane Harker and husband, Barry of Scranton, NC, and Barbara Cole and husband, Jerry of Stuarts Draft, VA; mother-in-law, Phyllis Porter of Staunton and sister-in-law, Linda Wiseman and husband, Bud of Verona. Linda adored her grandchildren, Brandon Stinespring, London and Lance Heishman, and Josie and June Nicholas, finding joy in witnessing their growth and accomplishments.
     Linda also had a special place in her heart for her two kitties, who were constant companions, bringing her much comfort and companionship.
     The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
     A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Paul’s Church in Staunton by Pastor Ryan Oswald.
     A Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Beech Grove Cemetery in Roseland, VA.
     In memory of Linda Patrick Nicholas, her family encourages friends and well-wishers to remember her through the appreciation of art, nature, and acts of kindness. Her legacy lives on in the beauty she created, the love she shared, and the positive impact she made in her community.
