Lillian Price Simmons Howdyshell

Lillian Price Simmons Howdyshell peacefully passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Bridgewater, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on September 28, 1932, near Middlebrook, VA, to the late Jenelue and Voliver Price.

Lillian had a passion for tending to the many flower beds around her homes in Bridgewater and Florida. She also enjoyed taking long walks with her dog, Lucky, around the neighborhood. Watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports throughout the year brought her great joy, as did spending her summers cheering on the Bridgewater Reds.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edward Simmons, to whom she was married for 40 years before his passing on January 1, 1992, and her second husband, James Ivan Howdyshell, whom she married for 16 years before his death on January 23, 2019.

Lillian is survived by her son, Dennis Simmons of New Market; three grandsons: Charlie Simmons and his wife Catherine of Fort Defiance, VA, Nick Simmons of Mt. Crawford, VA, and Mike Simmons and his wife Caroline of Arlington, VA; as well as six great-grandchildren: Addison, Tyler, Milly, Emma, Haley, and Juliette. She is also survived by Vickie Rule and many other close family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A service celebrating Lillian's life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Bridgewater with Pastor Tim McAvoy officiating.
