Larry A. Gheen
Larry Allen Gheen, 77, of Maurertown, VA passed Friday, July 21, 2023, at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Center, Kearneysville, WV.
A funeral service for Mr. Gheen will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Stover Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Wells officiating. Mr. Gheen will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 3-5p.m.
Larry was born in Arlington, VA on November 7, 1945, a son of the late Rev. James William and Mae Ruth McNabb Gheen. Larry retired as a self-employed roofer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Donald Gheen and a brother-n-law William “Bill” Howard Peregory.
Survivors include his children Larry Allan Gheen, Jr. of Edinburg, VA, James Bedford “J.B.” Gheen of Roanoke, VA, Angela Sue “Angie” Gheen of Strasburg, VA, Sandra “Tootsie” Varnado of Inwood, WV, Rachel Michelle “Punkie” Bragg of Indiana, Adam David “Tiger” Gheen of Roanoke, VA, and Elijah “Eli” Alexander Gheen of Strasburg, VA; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his siblings James David Gheen (Sherry) of Portville, NY, Ruth Ann Peregory of Front Royal, VA, and Geraldine Marie Fendley (Samuel) of Clear Springs, MD along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Brandle Golladay, Payton Golladay, Joshua Bragg, Isaac Bragg, Benjamin Bragg, and Caleb Strickler.
Flower will be accepted or those who wish may make memorial contributions to assist with final expenses to Sandra Varnado, 360 Aubrey Lane, Inwood, WV 25428.
