Kevin Newton Burns

February 26, 1963 - April 14, 2023

Kevin Newton Burns, 60, of Geoffrey Street in Staunton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mr. Burns was born in Staunton on February 26, 1963 the son of the late Stephen Kenneth Burns Jr. and Doris Rebecca (Reynolds) Burns.

Kevin was a beloved member of the community in so many different aspects. He collected friends along the way, with authentic humor, unbounded kindness, and a captivating love of life. He had a profound love of photography. Over the past 10 years he was able to travel across the US to capture breathtaking images of wildlife and landscapes. Mr. Burns was also very well known for owning and operating his own business known as Burns Roofing. He even continued roofing up until this past year, continuing his care for his clients as well as unfaltering work ethic. And his most treasured accomplishment, being a father to his son, Austin. Kevin lived his life fully, unafraid of any adventure that stood before him.

To know Kevin was to love Kevin. He was a lover but those that were close to him and knew him well, knew that he could be a fighter. He would fight for any of those that he loved. A person you would always want in your corner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Bevin Pauley Burns.

Kevin leaves behind his son, Austin Kenneth Burns; his wife of 26 years, Carol Ann Burns; his mother-in-law, Gloria Mckay and her brother, Eddie Harris “Uncle Eddie”; his sister, Stephanie Burns Monroe; nephews, Michael J. Monroe and his fiancĂ©, Kelli R. Kiblinger, Brian Monroe and Lee Ann Monroe and their children, Amelia C. Monroe and Arie E. Monroe; along with a long list of extended family on the Burns’ and Reynolds’ sides.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
