Kevin Clifford Snelgrove
Kevin Clifford Snelgrove, 70, husband of Patricia Lynne “Pat” (Wright) Snelgrove, of View Drive in Stuarts Draft, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Kevin was born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1953, a son of the late Douglas Snelgrove and Thelma (Ferris) Snelgrove. He grew up in West Bridgewater, MA where at an early age he became involved in dairy farming. When he was 12, he joined 4-H, where he met the love of his life, Pat. They later married and celebrated their 50th anniversary this past July.
After high school, he became a machinist at the Pandora Knitting mills in Lowell, MA and eventually moved to New Hampshire with Pat and his two children.
Kevin started a construction company, Nashua Remodeling, which grew and over the years employed more than 40 people.
When he and his family moved to Virginia in 1987, he founded King Custom, Inc. in Stuarts Draft, which he operated for the next 36 years.
He was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. An inventor, free spirit, and a kind, open-hearted man who saw the good in everyone he met.
He was a member of National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and Virginia Horseshoe Pitchers Association for 48 years. Throughout those years, as needed, he served as VaHPA Regional Director, WebMaster and President. He was inducted into the VAHPA Hall of Fame as “Organizer and Promoter”. He also was a life-time member of Stuarts Draft Horseshoe Club. In the more recent years, he became a member of the Central Virginia Gold Prospectors Club, and in his spare time enjoyed gardening and gold prospecting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Snelgrove was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Goyette.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 50 years, is a daughter, Melonie (Snelgrove) Skillman and her husband, Jeremi of Greenville; a son, Ike Snelgrove of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Ricky Snelgrove and his wife, Diane of Brant Rock, MA and Stan Snelgrove and his wife, Linda of Raynham, MA; a sister, Debbie Campbell of Bridgewater, MA; and two grandchildren, Dustin and Peyton Skillman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
