Kenneth "Ken" Lee Elmore

Kenneth L Elmore passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the age of 88. He was the son of Dale and Pauline Elmore of Princeton, West Virginia, born September 17, 1935. Husband to Shirley P. Elmore for 69 years and father to three children: Cindy Mims (husband Michael), Donna Elmore, David Elmore (wife Joy). Shirley and Ken have seven grandchildren: Weston Mims (wife Elizabeth), Joshua Elmore (wife Kasey), Jessie Mims-Adams (husband Clint), Lisa Boutros (husband Peter), Joel Elmore (wife Paige), Angelena Elmore, Hannah Mims. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Owen, Blake, Ava, Josephine, Libby, Everett, Sullivan, Selah, Luke, Emma, Emmett, Claire, Layla. 
Ken was the first of the Elmore family to attend and graduate from college. He then went on to pass his Certified Public Accountant Certification. He turned down a job in the coal mines, and went to work for the CPA firm R. L. Persinger & Company of Southwest Virginia. He later bought out the Staunton office and it became Elmore, Hupp & Company. He enjoyed decades of working with his clients and many became his friends. After retirement he applied the same dedication to his cherished Angus farm in Middlebrook. Kenneth was raised on a sustainable farm and wanted to expose his grandchildren to gardening, canning, growing fruit, raising bees, cattle, chickens, making hay, planting and harvesting crops.
Central to Kenneth’s life was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of instilling the value of hard work and resilience in his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Church, and his entrepreneur endeavors. He had a passion for reading books and world travel. 
There will be a graveside service for family and friends at Thornrose Cemetery, Monday, May 13 at 2:00 pm. 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
