Keith Degray
Keith G. DeGray, Sr. of Deerfield, VA, died on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from a massive heart attack. He was with his wife at the time.
He is survived by his wife, Ami-Beth Wallbeoff DeGray; their daughters: Kendra Huber (her spouse, Dallas Huber, and their children: Lyllian, Lily, John, Hunter, Gabriel, and Magnolia), Kasandra DeGray (her spouse, Jordan Anderson and their child Anders Jordansson); their sons, Keith G. DeGray, II and Kristopher J. DeGray.
He also is survived by his mother, Veronia Anne DeGray; siblings: Clyde DeGray, Jr., Brenda DeGray, Kevin DeGray, Sr. (Twin Brother), Sharon Wolf, and Joel DeGray, Sr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Keith was in the past a resident of CA, WA, CT, and RI. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1980. Keith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served with the submariners from 1985- 1999 during the Gulf War and Operations Desert Storm. He was a part of the construction crew for the U.S.S. Alaska which earned him the title of “Plank Owner” in the U.S.S. Alaska. During his career with the Navy, he served in Groton, CT, Bremerton, WA, San Diego, CA, and Kings Bay, GA. He was honorably discharged on Family Hardship and earned the awards of National Defense Service Medal, Enlisted Submarine( Dolphins), and Second Good Conduct Award.
Keith had extensive knowledge of computers and electronics. With his start in the Navy, it grew into his passion. He was constantly searching for new information in the electronic fields and was proud as a peacock when his son, Keith joined him at his same level and passion and his son, Kristopher shared with him the newest research developments. His resume grew extensive after the military, working at Brown and Sharpe as Manager of Engineering from 1994-1998, System Software Associates as Technical Consultant from 1998-1999, Independent Computer Consulting as Administrative Computer System Analyst from 1999-2000; Computer Sciences Corp as Senior Technical Staff from 2000-2005, Terra-San as Chief Programmer and CIO from 2005-2008, Ardent Support Technologies as Escalation Manager from 2010-2016, Park Place Technologies as Service Operations Center from 2016-2017, and American Hardwood Industries as IT Specialist from 2018-present.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, VA. The family will have a “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family home afterwards.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home and again one hour prior to services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to the American Heart Association in his memory; or the family planting a “memorial garden” and the contributions for that may be sent to the funeral home by Friday or to the family’s private residence.
