Kathy Hope Gayhart, 75, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton. She was born on January 23, 1951, in Harrisonburg to the late Harry Bradford and Winifred Ione Houff Gayhart. Kathy was a member of Mount Pisgah Church and dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a hairdresser for fifty-two years. For twenty of those years, she proudly owned and operated Touch of Beauty Salon in Staunton, where she became much more than a hairstylist to her clients. Kathy had a remarkable ability to listen, encourage, and share in both the joys and challenges of those she served. Through the years, she developed lasting friendships with her clients and their families, many of whom became like family to her. Her warm smile, caring heart, and genuine interest in others made everyone who entered her salon feel special, welcomed, and loved. She is survived by her sister, Judith Patricia Gayhart Gilmer and her husband, Frank; her nieces, Teresa Lorraine Gilmer Ervin and her husband, Robert and Cheryl Renee Gilmer Martin; and a great-nephew, Justin Matthew Martin. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Mount Pisgah Church Cemetery in Mount Sidney with Reverend Edward “Ed” Pruitt, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Mount Pisgah Church, where a luncheon will be provided for those in attendance. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation in Staunton for the compassionate care they provided to Kathy. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Monica and "Sam" for their love, support, and dedication to Kathy and her family throughout her journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pisgah Church (160 Mount Pisgah Road, Mount Sidney, VA 24467). Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
