Juanita H. Harlow

March 6, 1935 - July 2, 2021

CHURCHVILLE – Juanita Mae “Noot” (Hanger) Harlow, 86, of Churchville passed away Friday (July 2, 2021) in her home. 

Born March 6, 1935 in Augusta County, she was a daughter of the late Franklin Pierce Hanger and Daisy Leota (Cox) Hanger. 

Noot graduated from Churchville High School and married her sweetheart, Richard Eugene Harlow, in 1953.  Noot was employed by Hogsett’s Drug Store for a number of years but was, above all, a devoted homemaker and caregiver.  She adored her daughters and son, and was babysitter extraordinaire to her grandchildren and many more, including Beth Gouthro. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eugene “Dick” Harlow, two daughters, Debbie Puffenbarger and Donna Parady; a son-in-law, Gary Puffenbarger; a sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Clyde Eavey; a brother, Robert Hanger; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hanger. 

Surviving are a son, Doug Harlow and wife Joyce of Churchville, a son-in-law, Lewis Parady of Weyers Cave; a brother, Roscoe Hanger of Swoope; three granddaughters, Lindsay Harlow and partner Tony Harris, Jennifer Jack and husband Travis, and Ashley Huyard and husband Drew; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Harris, Corbyn Jack, and Dylan and Tucker Huyard; a step-grandson, Josh Puffenbarger and wife Amber and their children; three step great-grandchildren, Lindsey Mackenna, Ashley Jack and Trevor Jack; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends Judith Hanger, Mary Huffman and Beth Gouthro. 

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Gary Armstrong.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Kenny Hawkins, William Posey, Eric Young, Chris Pultz, Travis Jack, Drew Huyard, Tony Harris and Gary Michael.   Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Harlow, Rodger and Timmy Huffman, Eddy Pitsenbarger, Billy and Denny Harlow, Gary Rankin and Fred Bowers. 

The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
