Johnny Marlin Sites
Johnny Marlin Sites, age 83, of Petersburg, WV, went home to his heavenly father on November 27, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. He was born on May 15, 1940 in Dorcas, WV, the son of the late Marvin Edgar and Elsie Virginia (Vance) Sites. On March 29, 1957 he married Janie Lee (Cox) Sites who survives in Petersburg.
Mr. Sites attended school in Dorcas, WV and was a faithful member of the North Mill Creek Baptist Church where he served as an honorary deacon, trustee, and Sunday School teacher. Johnny was a lifelong painter, farmer, and co-owner of S&S Decorators. He was a great man of faith who touched many lives in his work for the Lord. With a smile on his face, he greeted everyone he met by sharing his faith or telling a great story from time to time. He loved his 1940 Chevy but cherished his family most. Johnny was a hard-working man of many talents and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by: 2 daughters, Rosa Crites (David) of Durgeon, WV; Teresa Thorn (Robert) of Mercersburg, PA; 2 sons, Kevin Sites (Claire) of Halethorpe, MD; Chris Sites (Debra) of Moorefield, WV; 3 sisters, Carol Skiles (Leroy) of Petersburg, WV; Joyce Ketterman of Warren, OH; Helen Smith of Petersburg, WV; 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special care taker, Laura Simmons of Petersburg, WV. He was preceded in death by: a son, Johnny Sites, Jr.; 5 brothers, Jesse; Chester, Lysle, Leearl; Norman; a sister, Rosetta Smith; a brother-in-law, Raymond Cox; and a sister-in-law, Norma Swick.
Johnny’s family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2023, 11-1 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Davis officiating. Interment will be at the North Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
