Johnnie Edward Emmett

Johnnie Edward Emmett, 89, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at his home.

He was born on October 1, 1934 and was a son of the late Robert James and Flora (Michael) Emmett.

Johnnie graduated from North River High School, class of 1952. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked in bridge construction for Interstate Bridge, where he was considered one of the best bridge builders in the state of Maryland. Johnnie loved blue grass music, traveling, and painting. However, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family.

Johnnie was united in marriage to Barbara (Zimmerman) Emmett for 67 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Valerie George and husband Craig, Alan Emmett and wife Lisa, Robin Emmett and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Nathaniel George, Jeremiah George, Caleb George, Christopher Emmett, Kyle Emmett, Keith Leatherwood and Matthew Leatherwood; great grandchildren, Benjamin George, Bailey Smith, Annabelle George, Elayna George, Marcus George; brothers, James Emmett and Dorwon Emmett; sister-in-law, Gay Emmett; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A service celebrating Johnnie's life will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Dawn Weller and Pastor Tom Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
