John Randolph Crawford
John Randolph Crawford, 86, of Dyke went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2023, at The Harbor at Renaissance of Greene, Stanardsville. He was born October 19, 1936 in Charlottesville, Virginia, son of the late Ellis Lambert Crawford and Dolly Ann Morris.
Randolph had a great love of flowers and nature. His first major job was Superintendent of grounds at Monticello. Subsequently he was in charge of grounds at Boars Head Inn. During the last years he worked in grounds for the Albemarle County School System until his retirement. Following retirement he built a home in the mountains of Greene County, near where he was born. He started by cutting the logs on his property and followed every aspect of the process to completion.
He was a member of Mountain Grove Chapel, Church of the Brethren.
He was one of a kind; a man of many talents. He could and would do anything for anybody.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Harbor at Renaissance of Greene, Stanardsville, for their loving care; with special thanks to Teresa Crawford, Victoria Profitt and Tiffany Carter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ellis Wilson Crawford, Donald Crawford and Leon Morris and two sisters, Mary Spangler and Shirley Frazier.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naomi Morris Crawford; his son, Samuel L. Crawford (Karen); his daughter, Iris C. Roberts (Charlie); his two sisters, Margaret Peery and Ella McKay; his grandchildren, Christine Crawford, Holly Roberts, Thomas Martin, Anthony Martin, Randy Crawford, Stacy Schnable and Jeffrey Roberts; 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
