John Elstun Launder
John Elstun Launder, 86, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, November 24th, 2023 at his home.
John was born in Iowa, to Ira Cleveland Launder and Elizabeth Eunice (Rigg) Launder on October 12th, 1937, the third of five siblings. John retired from DuPont in 2004 and enjoyed playing the Lottery, as well as researching and sharing family genealogy. John is described by his family as an extremely intelligent, if stubborn, man.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph “Joe” Launder; and his special K9 companion, Pudgy.
John is survived by his sisters; Theoma Floyd of Crimora, Luberta Jones of Elizabethton, TN, and Ann Cook with husband Rickie of Waynesboro. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jeff Cook, who John taught to cook when Jeff was just 4 years old; and his beloved dogs.
Following cremation, the family will be holding a time of fellowship and remembrance at date and time to be determined.
