Joann Simmons

JoAnn Simmons, age 82 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023  at the home of her daughter, Terri and Denny Woods

JoAnn was born on March 26, 1941 in  Rough Run, WV and was a daughter of the late Curtis Truselo Harman and Violet Loretta  (Kimble) Harman.  In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman “Bud” Simmons in 2007; one brother, Richard Harman and sister and brother-in-law, Paul and Doris Jean Parsons and brother-in-law, Phillip Snider.

JoAnn is survived by one son, Norman R. “Buddy” Simmons, Jr and wife Sandie of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Teresha “Terri” Woods and husband Denny of Petersburg, WV and Lisa J. Harman and husband Kent of Petersburg, WV

Ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren

One sister, Donna Snider of Martinsburg, WV

One brother, Curtis J. Harman of Petersburg, WV

Several nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was a 1959 graduate of Petersburg High School.  She was a cashier at former Monarch Mills for 23 years and was a  caregiver for Potomac Highlands Guild and a substitute cook for Petersburg Elementary and High School. She was a member of Landes Ruritan Club. JoAnn was a former member of Grove Street United Methodist Church and attended Petersburg Church of God.

Funeral service will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 1 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Bishop Stephen Noel and Pastor James Tompkins officiating. 

JoAnn’s family will receive friends from 12 Noon till time of service.

Interment will be Kline Cemetery, Kline, West Virginia.
