Joann Fisher
Joann VanPelt Crawford Fisher, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Bridgewater Retirement Community. She was born to Myrtle Marie Will VanPelt and Stanley Woodrow VanPelt of Clover Hill.
After graduating from Dayton High School in 1953, she began her career in bookkeeping and over the years worked for Wampler Feeds, Cline Oil, and Dayton Feeds. She was an accomplished seamstress. An excellent cook and hostess who never met a stranger. She enjoyed camping, collecting antiques, traveling and was very active in the Methodist Church.
Joann is survived by her husband, Julian Douglas Fisher, Jr., of Bridgewater, a daughter, Dianne Auville (Tom), of Dale Enterprise, a son Steven Crawford (Diana) of Linville, and two stepsons, Rodney Fisher, of Atlanta and Chris Fisher of Lewisburg, two sisters, Nancy Estes (Allen) of Bridgewater and Linda Hawkins (Kenneth) of McGaheysville, two sisters-in-law, Jane VanPelt and Barbara VanPelt, brother-in-law, Leroy Carr, as well as four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Randolph Crawford, a sister, Mary Alice Carr and two brothers, Edward Thomas VanPelt and Billy Lee VanPelt.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater. The casket will be closed.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel in Bridgewater with Revs. Ed Pruitt and Mary Dadisman officiating. Burial to follow at Clover Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Bridgewater Retirement Community, Patient Endowment Fund, or the Bridgewater United Methodist Church.
