Jean Davis Sydnor
WEST AUGUSTA – Jean Meek (Parrott) Davis Sydnor, 95, of West Augusta and formerly of Midlothian, died Wednesday (February 28, 2024) in her home.
Born December 16, 1928 in Roanoke she was a daughter of the late Rufus Morgan Parrott and Gladys Marguerite (Meek) Parrott.
Jean retired from Chesterfield County, after a career of teaching kindergarten and seventh-grade English. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and also attended Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Lee Davis, Jr.; her second husband, William Michaux Sydnor; a son, Scott Payne Davis; a son-in-law, Douglas Edward DeLoach; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Jean (Pohlig) Slinker. Surviving are five children, Edward Lee Davis III of West Augusta, Katherine Davis Pohlig (husband David) of Draper, Va., Sarah Marguerite Davis of Powhatan, Va., Daniel Glenn Davis (wife Mae) of Blackstone, Va., and Laura Davis DeLoach of West Augusta; daughter-in-law Susan Hamby Davis of Midlothian; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Moore Tate, Barbara Jean Davis, Daniel Glenn Davis, Jr., Xylina Susan Waugh, Jeannie Waugh Richards, Emily Katherine Pohlig, Emil Scott Pohlig, Miriam Pohlig Call, Bonnie Pohlig Roberts, James Edward Davis, Andrew Scott Davis, and Brandon Keith Davis; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A service to honor Jean’s life is anticipated in April, and will be announced at a later date.
