James "Mitt" Leroy Reese

James "Mitt" Leroy Reese, 87, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born on July 7, 1936 and was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Crider) Reese.

Mitt retired from Longs Excavating. His passion was hunting and fishing, and he loved tinkering with junk.

Mitt was united in marriage on Feb. 4, 1956 to Kathryn Bonnie (Sievers) Reese, who survives.

Mitt is also survived by three children, James Junior Reese and wife, Lori, of Dayton, Kathy Eavers of Dayton, and Flint Reese and wife, Amy, of Dayton; two brothers, William "Steamboat" Reese of Dayton, and Mervin "Gene" Reese; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Reese; sisters, Addie Mongold, Cathryn Little, and Luella "Whiz" Black; grandchildren, Crystal Eavers and Tristin Reese; son-in-law, Gary Eavers.

Family and friends are invited to a burial at Clover Hill Cemetery on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2 PM.
