James D. Gilmer

STAUNTON – James Delaney Gilmer, 76, died Sunday (October 2, 2022) in Envoy of Staunton.

Born August 9, 1946 in Churchville, he was a son of Everette Homen Delaney Gilmer and Arlene Frances (Shiplett) Gilmer.

He was a 1966 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and was a U. S. Army veteran. Jim was a longtime resident of Richmond, where he was employed by a jeweler prior to retirement. He attended Jahnke Road Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed drawing, and loved cats.

Jim is survived by two brothers, Jerry Gilmer of Staunton and Thomas Gilmer and wife Janet of Colonial Heights; two foster sisters, Wanda Hammer and husband Joe of Mt. Solon, and Deborah Parks and husband Todd of Mt. Airy, N.C.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

There will be no public services.
