Jacqueline Ambler

April 14, 1954 - February 1, 2024

CHESTER ā€“ Helen Jacqueline ā€œJackieā€ Ambler, 69, of Chester, passed away Thursday (February 1, 2024) in Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond.

Jackie was born in Staunton on April 14, 1954, the daughter of Robert Cary Ambler, Jr. and Helen Louise (Beam) Ambler. She graduated from Prince George High School and John Tyler Community College, and attended Pan American Business College.

She was employed by John Tyler Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) for 46 years, retiring in 2022 as Financial Officer.

Jackie enjoyed gardening of all sorts, and was skilled in a variety of needlepoint applications. She especially loved decorating at Christmastime, and was known, along with her mother, for her remarkable display of Christmas miniatures. Jackie was a devoted friend to many, and her friends genuinely became part of her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her brother, Robert Cary Ambler III and wife Linda of Christiansburg; nieces Jillian Ambler of Waynesboro and Rachel Ambler of Christiansburg; nephew Robert Cary Ambler IV of Staunton; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; and dear friends Liz Wilkinson of Chester, Charles Dabney of Chester, Chad Beck of Chester and (cousin) Gay Beam Briggs of Amelia.

The family is especially grateful to Jackieā€™s former coworkers who supported her so well as she transitioned into retirement.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8 in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, officiated by Rev. Dave Chappell.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).

Bear Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at bearfuneralhome.com.
