**In Loving Memory of Jack W. Hunt**
*1939-2026*
Jack W. Hunt, 87, of Fishersville, VA passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at Augusta Health Hospital.
Born in Charlottesville, VA in 1939 to the late Richard C. and Lillian C. Hunt, Jack was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Richard (Sonny) Hunt, Thelma Mowl, Shelby Adcock, Raymond Hunt, and Steve Hunt.
Jack graduated from Damascus High School in Damascus, MD in 1958 before marrying the love of his life, Patricia Hicks Hunt, in 1959. Married nearly 68 years, he is survived by his wife Patricia and their four daughters:
-Vicki Norris of Grandy, NC (husband E. Leon)
-Jacqueline Bryant of Staunton, VA (husband Wendell)
-Michele Chandler of Stuarts Draft, VA (husband Gerry)
-Jennifer Henline of Waynesboro, VA (husband Gary)
He is also survived by seven grandchildren:
-David Heinrich, Jr (wife Rebecca)
-Alison Heinrich (husband Brian Thomas)
-Timothy Davis (wife Jennifer)
-Brianne Anderson (husband Nathan)
-Nicholas Bryant
-Emily Henline
-Jenna Henline
Additionally, Jack leaves behind nine great-grandchildren:
-Gabriel Heinrich
-Riley Anderson
-Parker Anderson
-Regan Underhill-Thomas
-Charley Thomas
-Kylee Davis
-Aubree Davis
-Twins Aiden and Ryan Davis
Jack is also preceded in death by one grandchild, Jeremy Chandler, and is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved.
Jack was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1965 and had a successful career in the Printing Department at the Montgomery County School Board in MD, starting as a printing press operator and eventually becoming Head of the Department until his retirement at age 50.
Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed many hobbies including drag racing in his younger years, but his true passion was music. A member of the Tri-State Bluegrass Association, he loved taking his family camping on weekends. Although Jack played several instruments, the guitar was his favorite, and he enjoyed playing in bands with daughters Vicki and Shelley throughout the Shenandoah Valley and beyond. He was also a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and an avid collector of the team’s memorabilia; a passion he shared with his family.
Jack will be remembered for his contagious laughter, generous spirit, kind heart, and fun personality. Most importantly, he will be remembered for the incredible love he had for his wife and the family they built together. When asked about his legacy, he simply said, “I want people to know that I loved Pat with all my heart”.
A reception in Jack’s honor will be held on September 5, 2026, from 3:30-5:30pm at the Waynesboro Innovation Hub, 1010 E. Main Street, Suite 102, Waynesboro, VA 22980. Please join us as we celebrate Jack’s life and share our memories of him as a loving Husband, Father, Father-in-Law, and Grandfather.
