Ingalill Johnsson
Ingalill Marieanne Olsson Johnsson, 82, of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center from the sudden onset of an aggressive form of Leukemia.
Ingalill Marieanne Olsson was born on September 16, 1942, in Karlshamn Sweden a daughter of the late Erik Vilhelm and Anna Elisabet Adolfsson Olsson. She was one of eight children and in 1965, she traveled to Seattle Washington to follow and marry her sweetheart, Leif Johnsson, from nearby Mörrum Sweden.
Ingalill lived for many years in Edmond Oklahoma, where she had a long career as a Registered Nurse, working at the Oklahoma Teaching Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unit, in Oklahoma City. She went on to achieve a master’s degree in human relations with the University of Oklahoma in 1995 and subsequently continued her career as a mental health counselor, highlights of which include working as a contractor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide counseling for children affected by the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing of the Edward R Murrow Federal Building.
Following her retirement, she and Leif moved to Strasburg Virginia, approximately 20 years ago to spend time with her daughter, son-in-law and be a part of the lives of their two young grandsons. In her leisure time, Ingalill enjoyed walking with her husband Leif in the Shenandoah County Park, reading historical non-fiction, baking, and spending time with her family.
Ingalill would travel to Sweden each year and upon her retirement, would spend three months each summer at her childhood home in Karlshman Sweden, where she was surrounded by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leif Johnsson; her daughter Ursula and son-in-law John; two grandsons, Anders and Anthony; two brothers in Sweden, Karl-Erik and Arne, as well as a sister Maria.
A celebration of life for Ingalill will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Stover Funeral Home with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
