Henry Freed Fitzgerald

Henry Freed Fitzgerald, 83, of Lyndhurst, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at his home.
Henry was born in Augusta County to William Homer Fitzgerald and Ruby Lee (Vance) Fitzgerald on March 26th, 1940. He worked as a driver training supervisor for Stonefort for nearly 20 years, before moving to Enterprise Rental car as a driver for 12 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965. Henry will be remembered for his love of NASCAR and football, watching and reading westerns, and in his younger days, camping. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Irene Fitzgerald; and siblings, Betty Eckard, Judy Quick, John Fitzgerald and Mary Sue Coffey.

Henry is survived by a sister, Patsy Lunsford with husband Byron of Lyndhurst; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and friend, Deborah Lilly; as well as sister-in-law Doris Fitzgerald and brother-in-law, Richard Eckard.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
