Helen Payne

STAUNTON - Helen Payne passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on January 13, 2022 at the age of 70.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Harry; her Husband, Charlie; and her brother, Joseph. Surviving are two children and their families, Michael & wife Jennifer, and Sarah & husband Brian; two grandchildren, Ethan and Charlotte; a sister, Betty and brother-in-law Gary; sister-in-law, Christine; and two nephews and their families, Max and wife Erica, and Garrett and wife, Melanie, and their sons Wesley and Lucas.

Helen was a life-long registered nurse who graduated from RMH School of Nursing and who worked at King’s Daughters Hospital and Augusta Health for over 40 years. She took great pride in her profession and treasured her colleagues and nursing students with many becoming dear and life-long friends with whom she enjoyed lunches at Kathy’s. Helen’s joys included arts and crafts, painting, quilting, antiquing and traveling on organized tours.

A private graveside service will be held in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. David Vaughan.
