Hazel Morrell
Hazel Hewlett Morrell, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her home in Star Tannery.
Hazel was born in Washington, D.C. on April 30, 1942, daughter of the late Fred Elliott and Virginia Sue Smith Hewlett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Benny C. Morrell, and a brother, Robert E. Hewlett, of Williamsburg, VA.
She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was an avid reader, loved to garden and supported many charities. A graduate of King College in Bristol, TN, she was an active member of Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and choir and Strasburg Presbyterian Church.
Survived by her children; daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Ellen Beers and husband, Bill of Martinsburg, WV; son-in-law, Michael L. Rosenberger and grandson, Zachary and wife Megan of Maurertown; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fleet and fiancé Tony Cubbage of Rileyville; son, Benjamin Charles Morrell and wife, Connie, grandchildren, Elise and Jacob and great-grandson Elliot of Toms Brook; daughter, Mary Kaye Hausmann and husband, Mike of Star Tannery. She also leaves behind her extended family; brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends and family for a celebration of life at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Pregnancy Center, Edinburg, The Star Tannery Volunteer Fire Department, Star Tannery and the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, Edinburg or support a local Red Cross by donating blood.
