Hazel A. Blair
Hazel A. Blair, 93, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her home.
Hazel was born on May 30, 1930 in Augusta County.
She was a graduate of Cedar Green School. She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Waynesboro Community Hospital and continued to care for family and friends.
Hazel was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she was the Church Mother, a Deacon, a member of the Christian Women Fellowship, the Choir, Stewards, Head Usher, and forty years of service in the Layman Union.
Hazel enjoyed cooking, sharing with her family and caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie H. Wells; stepfather, William H. Wells; her husband of 53 years, Emmett Blair, Sr.; two sisters, Malinda Turner and Katherine Eaves; six brothers, Otho Hoge, George Hoge, Robert Wells, Sr., Daniel Wells, Paul Wells, and William B. Wells. Hazel was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Hazel is survived by her four children: Emmett Blair, Jr. (Wilma), Shelia Blair, Lester Blair (Cyndi), and Curtis Blair (Rosaline); eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ollie A. Wells and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Legacy Hospice and several special friends she adored over the years.
The family will receive friends from 10:30am to 11:00am at Beulah Baptist Church located in Stuarts Draft, and where a Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am conducted by Bishop Michael A. Turner.
Active Pallbearers will be Lamounte Blair, Jason Wells, Robert Wells, Jr., Eric Wells, Harold Wells and Curtis Blair, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Eaves, Eric Wells, Jr., Kenneth Awkard and Eddie Mock.
