Harley Leo Propst

Harley Leo Propst, 88, of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Bridgewater Home.

He was born on September 27, 1935 in Moyers, WV, and was a son of the late Fred and Myrtle (Mitchell) Propst.

Harley retired from the postal service after over 20 years of service, had served his country in the US Army, and was a member of the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Harley was united in marriage on Aug. 10, 1963 to Carol (Campbell) Propst, who preceded him in death.

Harley is survived by four children, Tony Propst and wife, Michele, of Dayton, Gina McAvoy and husband, Scott, of Harrisonburg, Larry Propst and wife, Jill, of Rockingham, and Tricia Perry and husband, Jason, of Grottoes; siblings, Stanley Propst, Jesse Carroll Propst both of Franklin, WV, and Sheldon Propst of Bridgewater; nine grandchildren, Delanie Propst, Harleigh Propst, Bethany DePoy, Allison DePoy, Jason Propst, Sarah Propst, Eva Perry, Myra Perry and Braedon Perry; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Ida Mary Snyder, Charles Linaburg, Gene Rader, Velma Blondino, Arnold Propst, Marilyn Propst, and Jerry Propst.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A service celebrating Harley's life will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, Jan. 10th, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jay Linaburg officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Crawford Cemetery.
