Gregory Allen McDonaldson

Gregory Allen McDonaldon, 68, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born on May 16, 1957 and was a son of Beulah (McDonaldson) Merica, who survives, and the late Hensel Dean.

Gregory had worked as a self-employed carpenter. Greg was a life long member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4129, Moose Lodge 1309, VFW Post 8613, and AMVETs.

Gregory is survived by fiance, Judy Higgins; two children, Chet (Harmony) McDonaldson, and Katelyn (Cory) Higgins; one sister, Sherry (Eugene) Hensley; four grandchildren, Hailey McDonaldson, Braelyn Higgins, Micah Hatter, and Syerra Cesar; special friends, Chuck Cusson, and David "June Bug" Lucas; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his father, Donald Merica and brother, Timmy Merica.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes with Pastors Danny Herring and Carter Dean officiating.

Greg and family would like to express special thanks to everyone who helped him and Judy through out his illness, including the UVA Six West team, Hospice of the Piedmont staff, Chuck, Katelyn and Emma Cash.
