Gregg Kiracofe

April 29, 1953 - June 20, 2025

Gregg Kiracofe was born on April 29, 1953, in Harrisonburg, VA, to Elizabeth Florence Puffenbarger Kiracofe of Bridgewater and Robert Eugene Kiracofe of Dayton, but at that time, of Camp Lejune, NC. A few years later along came Scott (Lisa), Kevin (Debra), and Jennifer (Terry Sager). He also has a niece, Amanda Sager-Spitler (Bridgette), and a great nephew, Robert, all of whom survive.

He is also survived by his wife Barbara Ann Mayhugh, of the Cross Keys area, who he married on Saturday, October 5th, 1974, in the Bridgewater United Methodist Church. They were married 51 years.

He enjoyed nothing more than taking his "big boy toys" to the exhibit area of the Bridgewater Lawn Party, set up a tent and sit there for four days and exchange news, stories, and as Gregg always put it, "tell lies".

If you pass a flea market, a swap meet, or a good sized yard sale, chances are Gregg had already been there. He collected antique lawn mowers and was a die cast anything collector, but mostly NASCAR. He loved tinkering with old engines, so he also collected old Maytag engines. Come to think of it he collected just about anything that had moving parts and/or was rusty.

He also loved working outside in the yard planting, weeding, or mowing. He didn't care. Just so he was outside in the sun.

Gregg retired after 39 years of service from Marshall's Distribution Center in Bridgewater. He grew to really enjoy keeping retiree's hours.

I think Gregg knew just about every soul in Rockingham County and half of those in the surrounding counties. He never knew a stranger.

He also loved his Labs. During our marriage, we were owned by five Labs: Buster, Gabriel, Lottie, Skipper, and our present house ruler, Jax. Gregg called him our big black bear!

Gregg will certainly be missed by so many people; his family, his church, the steam and gas guys, the people in our neighborhood, and many other old friends. But none more than I. He was one of a kind....a diamond in the rough.
