Graham “Pete” Clifton Thompson, 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Augusta Health Shenandoah House in Fishersville. He was born on February 11, 1940, in Rockbridge County to the late James Lewis and Irene Victoria Thompson Siron. Pete was a hardworking man who spent many years providing for his family. He worked as a mixer at Holsum Bakery for twenty-five years before beginning another twenty-five-year career working in the maintenance department with Marshalls, where he later retired. In his free time, Pete was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed cheering on Bill Elliott and Dale Jarrett. He was a loyal Ford man through and through and was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Nancy Ann Byrd Thompson; his daughter, Linda Thompson Robertson and her partner, Tommy Henley; his son, Robert “Bobby” Thomson, Jr. and his wife, Julie; his grandchildren, Amanda Lewin and her husband, John, Robert “Robby” Thompson and his wife, Nikki, and Elizabeth “Beth” Lilly and her wife, Laura; his great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kelsea, Deegan, Dutton, and Leland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Interment will immediately follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. Serving as active pallbearers will be John and Kameron Lewin, Bobby, Robby and Deegan Thompson, and Tommy Henley. Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
