Grace Elizabeth Marvin McGovern

Grace Elizabeth (Marvin) McGovern, a resident of Verona, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was 94.

Grace was predeceased by her parents, Henry Marvin and Mabel Ganoung Marvin; her husband, Charles McGovern; her sister, Hazel Shanks; and her brothers, Arden, Daniel, and Oliver Marvin.

She is survived by her children, David, Donnie, Steven and Connie McGovern; her daughters-in law, Teresa Ervin, Sandy, Cris, Jackie, and Becky McGovern; her grandchildren, Kristen Kahn, Kasey Williams, Anthony Erin, Charles McGovern, Amber Hunt, and Erin McGovern; 15 great­ grandchildren; her sister, Ola Bates; and special friends Doris, Shirley, Sue and Teresa.

Grace was born in Norwich, New York, and worked as a registered nurse before her marriage. She was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Staunton, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. In her retirement years, she contributed many hours to the work of the Staunton Senior Center.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held at Calvary Assembly of God in Staunton at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 preceded by a gathering of friends at 10:00 AM at the church.

Burial at Oak Lawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens will follow the service.
