Gertie Marie Coffey Campell
Gertie Marie (Coffey) Campbell, 98, of Lyndhurst passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Stuarts Draft Retirement Community and Christian Home.
Born August 30, 1925 in Augusta County, she was a daughter of the late Kelley Massie and Lena Gaynell (Fitzgerald) Coffey.
Prior to retirement, Gertie was employed by Hershey Chocolate of Virginia, Stuarts Draft. She was a member of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church. Gertie greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and fishing. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Blane Campbell; son, Steve Campbell; daughter, Vickie (Campbell) Nicely; grandson, Gordon Tyler Wright; brother, Earl Coffey; and sisters, Christine Claytor, Annie McGann, and Arlene Tisdale.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Campbell and wife, Doris, of Lyndhurst, and Gordon “Charlie” Campbell, Jr. and wife, Stacy, of Stuarts Draft; daughters, Gale Almarode and husband, Eldon, of Stuarts Draft, and Cindy Wright of Lyndhurst; son-in-law, Bob Nicely of Ivy; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Campbell of Sherando; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church, 2835 Lyndhurst Road, Lyndhurst.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Campbell, Travis Baber, Tanner Wright, Tessi Cook, Brandi Breeden, Cooper Marion, Dillon Campbell, and Cameron Campbell.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Stuarts Draft Christian Home for their love and care of Gertie over the last two years.
