Gerald Blair "Geri" Key

June 26, 1953 - April 22, 2023

Gerald Blair “Geri” Key, 69, widower of Anita Faye (Johnson) Key, of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mr. Key was born in Staunton, Virginia on June 26, 1953, a son of the late John Thomas Key, Sr. and Gladys Elizabeth (Whitmore) Key.

Geri retired from Polybond after 38 years as a Plant Supervisor and was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and being outdoors. Geri will be remembered by his famous quote “The only thing constant in life is change.”

Surviving, is a son, John William Key of Lexington; four daughters, Tiffany Mongold and her husband, Donald, Jr. of Grottoes, Shara Key-Wells and her husband, Eric, Sr. of Stuarts Draft, Genifer Key of Waynesboro, and Tifani Johnson and her significant other, David Thomas of Crimora; four brothers, John Thomas Key, Jr. of Hermitage, Andy Key and his wife, Miki of Las Vegas, Nevada, David Lynn Key and his wife, Jeanette of Staunton, and Timothy Crawford Key and his wife, Rebecca of Waynesboro; fourteen grandchildren, Holly, Quinton, Aidan, Corey, Linwood, Kali, Tre, Eric, Jr., Arizona, Abagail, Jacob, Emma, Nathan and Caleb; five great-grandchildren, Paislee, Paxton, Sophie, Scarlett, and Simone; and special friends, Coolidge Hise, “Jr.” and Jerry Burns.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 in Hermitage Presbyterian Church by Pastor Jaci Smith Patman and Mr. Jerry Burns.

Burial will follow in Hermitage Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Jacob, Eric, Jr. and Nathan and sons-in-law, Eric, Sr., David, and Donald Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers.
