Georgia Wood Ahalt

Georgia Wood Ahalt, 78, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Born April 7, 1945 in Charlottesville, she was a daughter of the late George Whitfield and Virginia Harris Wood.

Georgia was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Waynesboro City Schools where she worked as a high school mathematics teacher. Georgia was a member of the Waynesboro/Augusta Woman’s Club and the Waynesboro Garden Club. She greatly enjoyed crafting and gardening but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her granddaughter and family. Georgia will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frederick Ahalt; son, Frederick Whitfield Ahalt; daughter, Paula Ahalt Skulina; and brother-in-law, William Lane.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Reese Ahalt of Jacksonville, FL; son-in-law, David Skulina of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Susan Ahalt Button of Culpeper; sisters, Nancy Jackson and husband, Bill, of Afton, Judy Wagner and husband, Tom, of Waynesboro, and Nellie Lane of Afton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Rodes United Methodist Church, 286 Avon Road, Afton with Rev. Scott A. Robertson-Gouge officiating.

The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to her sister, Nellie Lane, and niece, Amanda Lane, for their love, care, and support of Georgia over the course of her illness.
