George William Johnson

George William Johnson, 80, husband of Virginia Louise Johnson, of Fishersville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his residence. 
Mr. Johnson was born in Middlebrook, Virginia on July 1, 1943, the son of the late George Baten Johnson and Louise Agnes (Woods) Johnson.
George was a hard worker and retired after 60 years of service at Builders First Source. He was a member of Middlebrook Church of God and was known to be quiet and gentle. George enjoyed watching football, especially the Washington Redskins, and spending time with his family. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister; Nellie Hays; a brother-in-law, Buford Gill; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 58 years, is a son, Bobby Johnson and his wife, Faye; a sister, Maggie Otiz and her husband, Santiago; a grandson, Jacob; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Buchanan and her husband, Charlie, Aliesa Shuey and her husband, Roger, and Ruth Gill; five brothers-in-law, Samuel Gill, Jeff Gill, Anthony Gill, Johnny Gill, and Mark Hays; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Middlebrook Church of God by Pastor Larry Strickler. 
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Marcum, Samuel Gill, Rodney Gill, Zack Straits, Jacob Johnson, Eric Buchanan, and Aaron Ost.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Strickler, Danny Crawford, Charlie Buchanan, and Patrick O’Shea.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
