Frederick Pfisterer
STAUNTON - Frederick Pfisterer, 87, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
He was born June 1, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of Frederick Jr. and Isobel Emily (Cramp) Pfisterer.
He grew up in South Jersey, graduating from Haddonfield Memorial High School in 1953 and Rutgers University in 1957. He taught 6th grade at Hainesport Elementary School for a year, was drafted into the Army in 1958 and spent his tour of duty at Fort Monroe. He then lived in New York City, working for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, and later lived in Rossway, Nova Scotia.
In 1963 he moved to Staunton and worked for the Staunton Leader as reporter, city editor, and, as FP, “Follow the Leader” columnist for 33 years, retiring in 1999.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by one niece and four nephews.
Following cremation, his ashes will be scattered with those of several of his dogs.
There will be no service or memorial.
