Frederick C. Griffin

February 3, 1932 - March 3, 2022

STAUNTON – Frederick Calvin “Ted” Griffin, 90, passed away Thursday (March 3, 2022) in Augusta Health.

Born February 3, 1932 in Augusta County, he was a son of Herbert Kenton and Hazel (Fink) Griffin. He graduated from Churchville High School and served in the U. S. Marines for three years. Ted retired from DuPont after 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding and watching the birds at his bird feeder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings: Elden, Les, Lynn, Hubby, Joe, Tom, and June Griffin, and Wilma Brown; and a grandson, Trenton Dale Griffin.

Surviving are four children, Larry Calvin Griffin and wife Carol of Churchville, Freddie Dale Griffin and wife Velma “Beanie” of Swoope, Roy Lee Griffin and wife Abby of Elkton, and Carla Fay Humphries and husband Jamie of Greenville; a brother, Jack Griffin and wife Donna of Churchville; a sister, Opal Goble of Stuarts Draft; nine grandchildren, Myles Griffin, Kelli Griffin, Rachel Swisher and husband Daniel, Spencer Griffin and wife Molly, Hunter Griffin, Heather Diehl and husband Lance, Hannah Humphries, Jordan Humphries and wife Emily, and Kierstin Doyne; six great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and Wyatt Swisher, Parker and Penelope Griffin, Liam Cole and Lane Dudley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, in Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church, officiated by Pastor Mark Tinsley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Armstrong and Harold, Harry, Nat, Darrell, and Melissa Grifffin.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6 in Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church.
