Franklin Dale Powers

March 4, 1934 - May 28, 2025

Franklin “Dale” Powers, affectionately known as “Bub”, 91, husband of Margaret Rae (Walton) Powers, of Swoope, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Brookdale of Staunton. 
Mr. Powers was born in Fayette County, West Virginia on March 4, 1934, the son of the late George Bethel Powers and Charlotte Athylene (Wikel) Powers. 
Dale was a veteran of the United States Marines and retired from Columbia Gas as a Street Foreman. He was a member of the American Legion, Buffalo Gap Sportsman Association, and a founding member of the Hard Luck Hollow Hunting Club. An avid outdoorsman, Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Powers was preceded in death by a sister, Avis Lorena (Powers) Anthony; and “the only brother I ever had”, Burnett “Bernie” Wilkerson.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-six years, is a son, William Scott Powers and his wife, Pam of Dayton; two daughters, Susan Bethel Powers-Albritton and her husband, Buck of Ashland and Katherine Dale Powers- Houff of Staunton; ten grandchildren, Annie M. Miller of Richmond, Justin Powers of Hubert, NC, Jacob Powers of Staunton, Rachel S. Haw of Richmond, JoJo Houff of Staunton, Josh Powers of Louisa, Tucker Houff of Lexington, Dale Albritton of Richmond, Quin Houff of Mt. Sidney, and Jason Powers of Jacksonville, NC; and special friends, Wendi True and Kristi Gregory. 
Services will be held at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
