Forest L. Greenawalt

Forest L. Greenawalt, 86, of Bourbonnais, Illinois passed away Thursday, December 12, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois.  

He was born April 24, 1937 at Kline, West Virginia and was the son of the late David and Clara (Alexander) Greenawalt.

He was a Civil Engineer for IDOT.  He graduated from Berea College in Kentucky for his undergraduate degree and received his MA degree from the University of Illinois.  He was a world traveler, and went on multiple mission trips with his church.  He planted over 3000 trees around his home, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais.

On August 9, 1975, he married Rachel (Champion) Greenawalt in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania

Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years are - 

One daughter - 

Keren Greenawalt-Russell (Jason) of Peoria, IL

And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Willie, Vernon, Carl, Fred, Hugh and Dale; and two sisters, Geneva and Twila.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon - 1:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church at Mozer, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Webb officiating.

Burial will be at Kline Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
