Finley Cash
Finley Morrison “Dukie” Cash, Jr.,79, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Augusta Health surrounded by his family. He was born in Waynesboro, where he resided most of his life with exception of the 20 years served in the United States Army as Lieutenant Colonel Cash.
Dukie during this service in the Army, he served two tours in Vietnam, and later worked as a Deputy Commandant with Fishburne Military School. He was a family man with strong faith and those who encountered him never forgot him.
Dukie was preceded in death by his parents, Finley M. Cash, Sr. and Kathleen R. Cash; grandfather, Edward Ross; parents-in-law, Russell and Myrtle Dunn; brothers, Donald Ross, Paul Cash, and James Cash; brother-in-law, Jerry Dunn; nephew, Troy Ross; grandson, Devin Cash; as well as a number of additional loved ones gone before him.
Dukie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glenna; his oldest sister, Deloris “Dee” Dunn of Waynesboro; his baby sister, Melinda “Lynn” Fix of Stuarts Draft; daughters, Nanette “Lee” Hill of Mint Springs and Shara Price and her husband, Jon of Crimora; sons, Chad T. Cash and his partner, Kelly Hailey of Waynesboro, Edward “Eddie” R. Cash of Waynesboro, Kevin Brown of Waynesboro, and Robin Brown of Hariston; grandchildren: Wyatt Cash, Jackson Cash, James Memphis Cash, Ashlyn Cash, Erin Cash, Nina Cash, Dusty Showers; multiple great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins; three special nieces, Penni Colvin, Shannon Walter, and Gerri Cash; life-long friends, Timothy Gutshall of Waynesboro, Charles Lawhorne and wife, Brenda of Grottoes, JD Robinson and wife, Nicole and their son, Morgan, John Breeden and wife, Crystal and their daughter, Montana; as well as extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 767 Calf Mountain Rd, Waynesboro with Pastor Merle Fisher officiating. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be: Wyatt Cash, JD Robinson, John Breeden, Morgan Robinson, Ben Cash and Brian Cash.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6pm until 8pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the 2nd Floor ICU Staff at Augusta Health, Dr. Jamie Escanellas, and the University of Virginia Medical Center Staff.
