Faye Catherine Miller
Faye Catherine Miller, 66, of Bridgewater died on March 17, 2025 in Wellness House at Bridgewater Retirement Community (BRC). Faye lived in Wellness House for only six days, but had thrived and loved living at BRC Assisted Living since 2014. She was born at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on February 27, 1959 to the late John Leigh Miller and Janet Lee Carter Miller of Bridgewater. In addition to her parents, Faye was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Robert Lee Carter and Gertrude Elizabeth Deyerle Carter of Roanoke and her paternal grandparents George W Miller and Edna L (Peg) Miller Miller of Bridgewater.
Faye is survived by her sister Dawn Elizabeth Miller (fiancé Wayne Grimsley) of Culpeper and her aunt Janice Kathryn Miller of Port Republic.
Faye grew up in Bridgewater and spent many days enjoying farm life on her grandparents' Nover Farm next door to her parents' home. Bottle-feeding baby lambs, bucket-feeding baby calves, gathering eggs in the chicken houses, bike riding through the pastures next to North River, showing Jersey calves at the Rockingham County Fair, and winter sledding down the hill consumed many of Faye's best childhood times. She was passionate about '60's and '70's music and television shows, but her true passion was 1000-piece puzzles and she dearly loved the four cats that she rescued over her lifetime.
Faye graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1977 and earned her BA in History from Bridgewater College in 1981. While a student at BC Faye was a member of Program Council, Alpha Psi Omega, Pinion Players (secretary 1980 & president 1981), and she directed a one-act play during her senior year.
After her BC graduation Faye worked in the hospitality industry in Atlantic City, NJ for several years. She missed and returned to the Valley to work as an administrative associate with offices of the Church of the Brethren, Mennonite Mutual Insurance, and American Press. She then transitioned to the food service industry and worked at BRC dining services where she found her joy with co-workers and residents.
Faye spent her youth attending Bridgewater Church of the Brethren and Montezuma Church of the Brethren. She later transferred her membership to Harrisonburg Church of the Brethren and attended services as frequently as she was able from BRC Assisted Living.
A memorial service will be held at Bridgewater Retirement Community's Lantz Chapel on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1PM with Reverend Marty Doss of Harrisonburg Church of the Brethren officiating. Faye's cremains will be privately interred at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to BRC Foundation, 302 N 2nd St, Bridgewater, VA. 22812-1712. Funds donated in Faye's memory will be designated for the Forever Family Fund which helps residents who are exhausting their financial resources.
