Ezell A. Crawford
Ezell A. Crawford, Jr.
Ezell Alphonso Crawford, Jr., 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his residence in Staunton. He was born on January 8, 1956, in Staunton to Hattie Mae Morman Kelley and the late Ezell Alphonso Crawford, Sr. Ezell worked as a lineman for Virginia Power, where he took pride in the service he provided to his community. He was a faithful member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in New Hope, where he found great joy in singing in the church choir. Gospel music was close to his heart, and his voice was a true blessing to all who had the joy of hearing him. In his spare time, Ezell enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, and for many years he could be found behind the wheel of a limousine, helping his brother. He also enjoyed playing cards, sharing good times with family and friends. Ezell had a love for eating BBQ chicken made by the Crawford Brothers - a true local favorite that left a lasting impression on all who tasted it. A man of remarkable strength, Ezell faced his illness with courage and determination. He never allowed it to define or defeat him. Instead, he remained a source of encouragement and inspiration to others. In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughter, Denitra Lee Berry (Mike); his brothers, Roger Lee Crawford (Julia), Beverly Wayne Crawford (Joyce), and Gene Rodney Crawford; his sisters, Linda Crawford Blakey (Kenneth), Deborah Ann Crawford (Alvin), and Mary Ann Crawford Robinson (Bertie); his grandchildren, Zendaya Leigh, Zariah Kaye, and Nijah Wilberger; a great grandchild, Eden Edge; a special niece, Tawanna Crawford (Lucan); and special friends, Dawn Jordan, and Debbie Smith; his long time friends, Richard and Marion Fauver; numerous nieces and nephews; and he was blessed with more friends than you can count. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in New Hope with Pastor Conchita Holtz. Family and friends are invited to gather for a repast immediately following the service. The family will receive friends to offer condolences at the home of Denitra Berry (207 Overbrook Street, Staunton, VA 24401). Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
