Eldridge Walraven Gray

July 29, 1932 - February 3, 2024

Eldridge Walraven Gray, 91, of Bridgewater, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Bridgewater Retirement Community.

He was born on July 29, 1932, and was a son of Shelton and Linnie (Bell) Gray.

Eldridge moved to Charlottesville from Waynesboro in 1965 and built a new home there in 1967. He retired from GE after 30 years of service, and was an active member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He served his country in the US Navy, was a member of the Earlysville Ruritan Club, a committee member for Boy Scouts Troop 75, and a volunteer for Habitat For Humanity. He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed going on mission trips to South America to help build churches.

Eldridge was united in marriage on June 4, 1955 to Dorothy Anne (Kilcrease) Gray, who survives.

Eldridge is also survived by two children, Roy Gray and wife, Patty, and Lynne Grubbs; four grandchildren, Rachael Grubbs, Leslie Grubbs, Jacob Gray, and Kelsey Gray; two great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Grubbs, and Callum Autry.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Moody and Wayne Gray.

A service celebrating Eldridge's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville.
